THE CRITICAL SLIDE SOCIETY "A gentleman’s surfing fraternity"

As we continue our journey through the world of surf we tend to get caught up in the masses and begin following rather than leading. Before you know it you have the same haircut, ride the same looking 6'2 and even start talking like all your surfing crew. Well for those that have woken up and are looking to duck out of the pack mentality and get back to the grass roots of it all there is hope.

There's a new crew sneaking around the quiet shady areas of town that go by the name "The Critical Slide Society". (Formerly The ShortStraw). The founders are a talented young group of lifestyle guru's that chase their own vision and just do their thing, which turns out is actually cool. Thinking this sounds like a nice breath of fresh air, something that you can see yourself being a part of? It's not for everyone, and I'm sure they don't want 'everyone' on the bandwagon, but for those that love the vision and want to support the vision the crew will welcome you with a friendly 'how do you do sir...'

“The Critical Slide Society (TCSS) is meant as a similar reference to a gentleman’s surfing fraternity...i.e the club who slides through the critical part of the wave so to speak. The brand is really more of a boutique garment company, which specializes in making small run, hard to find, yet worth the search art oriented pieces for coastal dwelling.”

It's all about getting back to the deeper meaning of surfing as a way of life. Think back to the sixties where people were part of surfing clubs, where they all surfed, hung out together and partied together in a fun and life loving society.

"TCSS is a slippery little creature. Wrestled from the minds, pencils & sketchbooks of a small few in Australia & the United States, it has been fed on a strict diet of colourful foam mowers, soulful skeg flexers (past & present) and the versatility of the humble surf craft beneath our feet. It currently resides in the back shed, along with the wolf rider & a sewing machine, stitching tidy tees & trunks for it's owners & whoever else might be interested."
