Criteria
Awarded to the boardshort product that featured the most exciting design, appeal or innovation between January 1 and December 31, 2008.

mesurf's thoughts:
We can't believe the Rip Curl STL Hybrids didn't get a run? They're the most technical and well addressed boardies we have seen/reviewed to date. The award would be a lot better suited if split into two categories, (i)technical and (ii)design/appeal.
We've noticed since the inception of the Hurley 'stretch' fabric it seems the rest of the crew have taken this innovation on board and surfers are loving it. On another note, the whole 'brand collaboration' between Billabong and Metallica should be in a whole different category that awards brands for their marketing ideas/achievements.

As for our pick, we're putting our money on the Volcom mods. These guys seem to have a few new innovations that are not yet replicated within the market, look the goods and scream performance.
