RUSTY HIGHBREED STRETCH BOARDSHORTS REVIEW

If you want to stand out from the crowd in the lineup then the Rusty Highbreed Stretch psychedelic patterned boarshorts (Jay Davies signature model) will make sure of that. As you've gauged these puppies fall under the $90 mark making them a little less damaging on the wallet, however they don't really offer (other than stretch) more features than a standard set of boardshorts. We liked the way the minimalist fly design eliminates almost all velcro to feel nice and gentle when freeballing for a few hours. The external pocket, sewn seems and large draw cord eyelets don't make these the most attractive technical boardshorts in the market. If however you're just after a pair of stretch boardshorts and want to save some dollars, then the Rusty highbreed stretch make for a good purchase.

SEAMS: Standard stitching used throughout. No use of seamless technology.

MATERIAL: Lightweight & comfortable on the skin. Fast drying.

STRETCH: Ultra four-way stretch (one of the best in the group) that will move into just about any position you throw at it.

OTHER: Using Rusty's patented 'ECO' stretch material, they're designed to minimise their impact on mother nature. Oh, and they throw in a wax comb combo (wax comb, bottle opener, fin key) so you feel you've got something extra.

RUSTY HIGHBREED STRETCH BOARDSHORTS STYLE:

LOGO PLACEMENT:
Small embroidered logo on the leg that's fine, however it's the big 'RUSTY' logo on the pocket that's out of place.
PANELS: No attention to detail here. They're on the baggy side with no curves or shape.
LENGTH:
Mid knee

TESTERS QUOTES:

"I'm not crazy about the design, but each to their own. The Rusty highbreed stretch boardshorts are stretchy and feel good on, but the pocket design is from the 90's. Skating around the place with a phone and wallet wasn't a great experience in these guys, and I didn't feel too safe having mullah notes in the pocket while surfing." - COLT

"Very nice psychedelic theme (I like it!). Good eco-stretch. Unfortunately the fold over pocket is so three years ago.." - BEZZA

  • FLEX TOOL [04.Dec.2008] Category: Surf travel gear

One of our favourite little tools on the market. It's made of Recycled plastic making it very Eco friendly, and costs less than $5. The flextool is a mini-me wax comb combined with a bottle opener, fin key and a little screw driver. Once you check out the review, you wont know how you've gone this far without one. Seriously, when was the last time you had to scout round for a bottle opener or fin ...

  • THE COVE | FILM REVIEW [08.Mar.2010] Category: Surf film

The Cove is tells a story that will leave you in shock and wanting more. More answers, more information, more justice! The Cove is more than just a look into the sad and cowardly acts of a small Japanese fishing village, it's a film that continually digs deeper into a world of secrets, and the deeper these guys dig, the bigger and darker the secret that is unraveled.

  • THE DRIFTER [02.Nov.2009] Category: Surf film

I've watched The Drifter 3 times and I still feel there's more to gain from this film. We watch films, but how often do we actually hear and see a film for all that it is? The Drifter is a degustation for the senses, with every part of the film being A-class.
