LTD EDITION HURLEY PHANTOM WITH NIKE FLYWIRE [30.11.2009] Category: Boardshorts

The original Hurley 'Phantoms' were the first to set the trend in stretch wear in the surf market back in 2007 offering 120% stretch and a material that hadn't been used before in boardies. These guys set the path for the new way forward with all other boardies manufacturer releasing their 'stretch' series soon after. What keep's the Phantom's in a different league is their use of unque and exclusive material supplied by 'Nike' that is super lightweight and has more stretch than any others. We reviewed a pair of these over a year ago and have to say they are pretty damn sweet. (review here)

Well back a few weeks ago we dropped a piece called 'Frankie goes to Hurleywood', it showcased a digital clip that's a commercial for Hurley's recently launched 'Phantom with Nike flywire'. Their latest in the world of 'performance boardies' and we recently got word of these things hitting stores around the globe.

This latest release is a 'limited edition' set of Phantoms that have a special and exclusive addition of Nike Flywire.

(NOTE: PR writers are ex politicians, I'm sure of it. I mean how can you claim that those little metal grommets on boardies 'lack the balance, stability and fluidity'? These things weigh less than the amount of sand you accrue in your crotch, and I'm pretty sure surfers with more sand in their sack don't surf worse. Maybe next time you feel you're not surfing your best, reach deep into the crotch and you may find your problem.)

Anyway if you don't get caught up in analysing the PR carry on, a lightweight, quick dry and very flexible set of boardies sound dope. With features that include: exclusive Phantom fabric, no inseams, welded seam constructions, EZ fly and Nike flywire for added strength and durability, Hurley have pulled out all the stops. They're also boasting 140% stretch! Meaning you can pretty much bungee just by tying rope to your boardies.

However...If you want a pair then you're going to have to fork over $249.95. We're not against paying top coin for top line products, but that's almost double a set of other boardies and the standard Phantoms.  We can't say they're not worth '$250' so Hurley - Send us through a pair so we can check them out in the flesh.

We believe (wasn't in the PR release) that with purchase you receive limited edition packing box, surf dvd, and special edition book as shown in the shots.
