NIXON FLURO PLAYER | YELLOW [17.11.2009] Category: Surf watches

NIXON FLURO PLAYER | YELLOW

What started out less than a year ago as an 'exclusive' 4 watch range release of the rubber player has turned into a long- term marketing campaign that is now heavily embossed into everyone's eyeballs.

The Nixon 'Fluro' Player ranges final colourway is in and will be dropped end of this month, November 30 to be precise. No points for guessing the final time piece is Yellow. Considering we've had pink, green, and Orange, together making up the 4 colours of every child's favorite hi-lighter series.

Fluro Yellow, the original fluro colour (well as far as I know) the hi-lighter colour that everyone has in their high school, wetsuit material pencil case, the colour that seems to find it's way into everyones art artillery and one that points out all the interesting stuff books and magazines offer.

The final player comes with all the values that you've come to expect from the Nixon exclusive player multi, super, exclusive, one off, but four of, and then some releases.

"The four color, four month series was launched this past August and all watches in the collection feature high-polish,
high-gloss polyurethane case and band making them truly unique within the watch world."

One thing that clearly stood out in all the Rubber player PR releases was that:
"Due to the limited nature of the Rubber Player, once they are sold out, these watches will not be
available again."

So if you aint got one now then you may never have one. Ahhhh, unless...there's still a few ideas floating around like:

The 'Team Players' - a limited release of 4 watches each with a different face of one of the key nixon surfers. You can now take Andy Iron's or Dusty Payne with you wherever you go!

The 'un-rubber Rubber player' -  a limited release of 4 different materials for the Player. You can get it in plastic, metal, ceramic or my personal favourite...hemp.

The 'Art player' - a limited release of 4 watches each with an exclusive piece of artwork from a top artist. Think Jay Alders or Andre. Actually could be a legit idea!

If you've got ideas on what Nixon could do for another exclusive Player range release let us know and post your ideas below. If it's good enough we'll send it through to the Nixon crew and see if we can get it a start or we'll throw you something for being rad.

  • MY EYES WON'T DRY [28.May.2009] Category: Surf film

Not since George Greenough has a single surfer so thoroughly documented life inside the barrel. This epic tale gives you a real taste of what barrel riding is all about. This will have you charged for those hollow sessions!

  • SKULLCANDY HOLUA HEADPHONES [17.Feb.2009] Category: Tech

Wood has been used in instruments right back from the beginning, guitars, castanets and violins to name a few, due to its awsomo sound, so it seems like a normal progression to come to the idea "Let's make headphones out of wood"... and so the HOLUA was born. Also being the only legal and PC way to sport wood around town!

  • DELUXE 2010 "1956" COLLECTION [10.May.2010] Category: Surf clothing

Stumbled across this the other day. A cool collection from the Deluxe crew, with a 1956 surf culture look and feel to it. The shoot was done for HUGE magazine. Forget the 80's revival, it's all about the 50's and 60's baby. More after the jump...
