OLYMPUS TG-610 QUIKSILVER CAMERA REVIEW - We recently received the new limited edition Olympus tough TG-610 Quiksilver camera for review and I have to say I was impressed. Not only is thing robust (waterproof to 5m, shockproof to 1.5m and freeze proof to -10 degrees Celcius) but it's light, super easy to use and they've upgraded their 3-inch screen to 920,000 dots, putting it on par with top-end d...

The Shred Sled is a progressive new surfboard model created by Hayden Cox of Haydenshapes Surfboards. It uses the key design elements of a fish but also tweaks things to give the board heighten performance and an ability to suit a variety of conditions. After numerous sessions on the Shred Sled, mesurf’s Colt gave the board the following review. Think it lives up to its hype?

If you'd told me five years ago you'll be playing surf games on your phone I would've pictured something like California Games but worse. Over the past 12 months we've seen a rebirth of the surfing game market hit the iPhone scene. I'm still unsure why these games aren't made with larger gaming consoles in mind.

BILLABONG PX1 BOARDSHORTS | Billabong know the boardshorts game well. Their PX1 technical boardshorts have all the technical features you can think of (and a price to match). Their biggest draw card is the super stretch material matched with seamless technology. With these working together they've created a set of technical boardshorts that might be hard to fault.
-
RIP CURL MIRAGE 4 BOARDSHORTS | The Mirage 4 are Rip Curl's elite pair of technical boardshorts, combining years of research and design into one top-line package. The Mirage 4 are a high performance boardshort, loaded with the most innovative technologies Rip Curl's R&D team have ever developed. As they say... "WEARING THE MIRAGE 4 IS LIKE WEARING NOTHING AT ALL".
-
O'NEILL HYPERFREAK BOARDSHORTS | The O'neill Hyperfreak boardshorts are what you'd expect, nothing short of amazing. While they might not have every single bell and whistle, it's their super stretch, lightweight material that make them one of the top pairs in the mesurf boardshorts guide. Unlike some of the other boardshorts that use different materials throughout the boardshort, the O'neill Hyper...
-
RUSTY HIGHBREED STRETCH BOARDSHORTS | If you want to stand out from the crowd in the lineup then the Rusty Highbreed Stretch psychedelic patterned boarshorts (Jay Davies signature model) will make sure of that. These puppies fall under the $90 mark making them a little less damaging on the wallet, however they don't really offer (other than stretch) more features than a standard set of boardshorts...
-
VOLCOM 3D MOD BOARDSHORTS | First up we we're stoked that the Volcom 3D Mod boardshorts come in under $90. In comparison to the competition in this price range Volcom has it nailed. While the 3D Mod boardshorts don't boast to have ultimate flex and stretch properties, they offer enough give to make sure you get the most out of each session. We really liked the lightweight and super fast drying pro...
-
HURLEY PHANTOM BOARDSHORTS | Hurley, the crew who brought together the words 'technical' and 'boardshorts', sent in their Hurley Phantom 60 GEO's to be part of the mesurf boardshorts guide. While an awesome pair of boardshorts, they're not Hurley's top notch offering. The Hurley Phantom 60 baordshorts have amazing stretch (60% patented Hurley stretch) and a flashy pattern showcasing their 'technic...
-
BILLABONG PX DOMINATOR BOARDSHORTS | The Billabong PX Dominator boardshorts are similar to their bigger and better brother - The Billabong PX1 boardshorts. However, these guys use a recycled fiber, are not 100% seamless and have a different panel cut. They feel great on and offer loads of stretch. They've got all the features you'd come to expect from a highly tuned technical pair of boardshorts. ...
-
QUIKSILVER CYPHER MASSIVE BOARDSHORTS | Quiksilver have had the Diamond Dobby DLX ™ fabric exclusively for a number of years now, with no other brand trekking down this path. While the material is super comfortable to wear, dries very quickly and is very light, it doesn't have the same stretch characteristics as a lot of the competition. The design of the boardshorts are great and they're up there...
-
WEST REVOLUTION STRETCH BOARDSHORTS | The West Revolution Stretch are one of the only brands offering a stretch boardshort for under $90. While the price is a key point, these boardshorts are missing the same attention to detail the elite group offer.

REVIEW | Surfboard dings. What nasty, pesky little things. Personally, like haemorrhoids or an acquaintance in need, I like to just pretend they’re not there. I’m too embarrassed and too cheap to take it to a shaper, and too clueless and lazy to fix it myself. Fortunately, we’re discovered a ding-repair product that suits my Gen Y deficiencies. But does it work? We had BEZZA here test it out for y...

Who is J.O.B. is the eagerly-awaited surf movie profiling Hawaiian freesurfer, Jamie O’Brien (JOB). The trailer (s) look amazing but what’s the film really like? The mesurf crew went along to the Australian premiere last week - here’s what we thought.
-
ALPINESTARS QUANTUM BOARDSHORTS | Alpinestars, better known for their functionality on the moto track, have released their 'technical' boardshorts range called the Quantum. Their little hidden cargo pocket is stylish (if you don't want to ever carry anything larger than a credit card) but doesn't hold an iphone or wallet. The boardshorts overall are on the large side, feel heavy and have two huge ...

So I finally got the opportunity to test the latest Olympus Tough 8010 camera, on first impressions I thought it looked exactly the same as the older version but on closer inspection it turns out this bad boy has more functions than Jordy Smith has boards...

FIN REVIEW | Some pretty freaky looking surfboard fins arrived in the mesurf post last week. Yes, the new ‘FOILZ’ fins, developed on the Gold Coast, certainly have a unique shape about them. It was because of this confronting appearance we thought it only best to hand them over to our resident surf-product guinea-pig, 'Bezza'. Bez took 'em for a spin, now here's the man's verdict.
