JACK FREESTONE VS THE WORLD
While the elite surfing world are resting in preparation for the 2011 WCT, young guns from around the globe have congregated to the sunny surf destination of Narrabeen Australia for the Billabong World JR Championships. Within the usual suspects there are four (4) surfers that are on a mission to make this event one of the biggest and best of their lives.
mesurf recently caught up with Jack Freestone, Mitch Crews, Davey Cathels and Kiron Jabour a few days before competition began to see what these guys had to offer and if they have what it takes to take home a world title. While the conditions that day were poor with a howling southerly and a week 2ft+ windswell, the crew were still able to put on a show. A display that reinforces that somewhere among these talented riders a future WCT World Title Crown Owner is born.
Jack Freestone (AUS) is currently ranked #1 in the World JR Series, having won the first event 2010 in Bali is in a good position to be the first Aussie to win the world Pro Jr series since Parko back in 2001. It wont be an easy feat with challengers from around the globe all coming in with guns blazing to take down the event for their home turf. Not to mention best friend Mitch Crews (AUS) who is having a blistering year on the JR series, fellow Aussie Davey Cathels who put on an amazing show the day we filmed, and young blazer from Hawaii Kiron Jabour who has a very strong drive to win events.
So here's a sneak peak into the surfing world of 3 Aussies and their Hawaiian friend who we're sure will be registering on many peoples radar over the coming years, and perhaps one will be reigning as a World Junior Champ.

I would have to say Dane Reynolds, id like to be able to express myself freely in a heat knowing that Dane would be aiming for a similar heat plan, minimal constraints in the heat, letting loose with dynamic surfing......

I love competing and I love freesurfing, so either would suit me down to the ground, but to compete for the 5 million is my pick. Im as human as the next teenager, 5 Million bra is plenty of cabbage... It will help me set up my future and help
set up my mum in certain ways...
