CHIPPA WILSON, RILEY BLAKEWAY - NOW

Riley Blakeway, 21-year-old surf filmmaker and a young man who’s perhaps the future his field, has collaborated with Chippa Wilson, a surfer who’s also peddling the future of his own varial-driven craft, on a new surf movie titled ...Now.

mesurfTV sat down with the duo recently to discuss the film, which has seen the two travelling and working together for the better part of twelve months.

Blakeway had the following to say when asked about what to expect from Now. “It’s pretty much what I think is due in surf films right now. It’s low-budget and nothing serious at all, it’s just fun.”

His 23-year-old show-stopping subject, Chris ‘Chippa’ Wilson, has a forte for technical aerial surfing. When asked how he trains for such an approach, Chippa revealed, “I skate. I just got back into skating and it’s helped a lot. Heaps. It works so much for doing shove-its and big spins (in the surf) – you get the whole motion of the things.”

Together this pair may be the future, but for the time being, they’re also very much the now. The full interview can be seen below. Enjoy.
