BILLABONG PRO TAHITI 2010 – TEAHUPOO, Tahiti – Stop No. 5 on the 2010 ASP World Tour takes us to Tahiti’s infamous lefthand reef-break, Teahupo’o. The event has much more at stake than usual because following its completion the ASP World Tour will be cut down from 44 to 32 surfers under new changes. This will undoubtedly make for some passionate performances as the pros surf for their spot on the prestigious World Tour.

There’s nothing more fascinating than when two elite competitors with a history of intense duelling go head-to-head in a no holds barred showdown. It’s the ultimate catalyst for drama. Sport just isn’t sport without rivals. TEAHUPOO, TAHITI; As the waves continued to deteriorate at the Billabong Pro Tahiti, so did the hopes of many surfers looking to stay afloat as the ASP cuts the number of surfers on its World Tour from 45 to just 32. Sitting 41st on the ASP rankings coming into The Billabong Pro, 24-year-old American rookie, Pat Gudauskas, was one such surfer in serious jeopardy of being culled from the World Tour at the culmination of this event. - micholas
