Originally a New South Welshman, I moved to Perth with my family as a young lad and have never looked back. Always living close to the coast I was captivated by all things above and below the ocean. I got my first foamy at 12 and around the same time, got my first film SLR camera. The makings were there from an early age.

However, I followed the corporate career path, donning the pin striped suit and tying myself to the desk for way too many hours. Always in the forefront of my mind were the waves I’d missed that day. I have never let up on my passion for surfing and the ocean but my relationship with the camera has come in ebbs and flows. A few years back I took up some further photography study and spent some decent bucks on a digital SLR kit. The corporate life was paying for the bills and the fancy lifestyle but I needed more than that. Loaded Barrel was born!

Now when the alarm goes off, I don the boardies and thongs and head to the local metro breaks (Trigg/Scarborough) or wake up in “surf heaven” (South West WA), to capture the morning waves for my daily blog, have a chin wag with the local crew and soak in the new day dawning, never thinking about the peak hour commute that once was.
