Andy Davis lives in a world of colour, curves and creation. In this featured artist profile, we threw a few words Ando's way to see what flows through the mind. An artistic outlay...

BEGINNING...

I always doodled as a young one and I guess I never stopped. I even knew then that I would be involved with art in some shape or form for the rest of my life. It just felt natural.

STYLE...
My style is very loose, dreamy and whimsical. I try to recreate little make believe worlds and characters that I see in my head.

SURFING...
Being a surfer I have always been inspired by the ocean and all the creatures that dwell in it.

INSPIRATION...
I get the most inspired by my son and wife. They make so happy, I have never felt anything like it. It’s so hard to put into words.

SURF ART...
I think it’s something the media made up so it can be classified, it’s just a label. Anything can be an art, you just need to be passionate about what you're doing.

LIVE...
New Zealand. It seams like a great place to raise a family. Very simple living & uncrowded. I hope to end up there one day, sooner than later hopefully!

MUSIC...

I don’t think I could function with out music. I have been really into Pandora lately, but right now I am listening to Lou Donaldson.

CREATE...

It starts with loose renderings, then if it feels right I will figure out what medium I'm feeling the most that day, it could be a water color, a tee shirt graphic, a page in a scrapbook or I might decide to do a painting.

VISION...
I have a concept store at the moment called ebb and flow. It’s in Cardiff Cali. My clothing collection ando and friends is doing monthly ads in surfer magazine as well that I create. You can also see more at andoandfriends.com or some of my artwork at mynameisandy.com

FUTURE...

I hope I can still be blessed enough to support my family and get to do what I love most for a job. I am so lucky!

  • THE ARTISTIC LIFE OF PATRICK PARKER [27.Sep.2009]

To me, art is the gateway between reality and dreams. When I look at a piece of art, I am transported from my current state of being to the place or thing the artist has depicted. Sometimes, the way the paint strokes are applied, how it's composed, or which colors dominate the image, I feel warm, sad, excited, cold, angry, or happy.

  • BILLABONG RIO PRO 2011 - FINALS [21.May.2011]

Brazilian Adriano de Souza has taken out stop No. 3 on the ASP World Tour, the Billabong Rio Pro, defeating Taj Burrow (AUS) in the final 15.63 to 12.17 and sparking wild celebrations from the enormous home crowd. De Souza now moves to No.1 in the ASP World Title race.

  • MICK WATERS INTERVIEW | LITTLE BLACK WHEELS [12.Feb.2010]

Mick Waters is a surfer, father of three and loving husband that knows what's good for his soul. Living on the outer skirts of Byron Bay on a little slice of heaven Mick and family decided to pack up the van and do a little re-connecting for a few months on the road. It was this trip that led to the birth of his recent little house product 'Little Black Wheels'. After watching the film, we were in...
